When you purchase a solar system, you will receive three different types of incentives. Once the system is completed, you will receive a cash rebate from your utility company. The state and federal governments will each give you tax credits that you claim when you do your taxes. People without of a tax liability can “pass through” their state credits to someone else for cash payment.

What are the current incentive amounts?

Solar Electric Incentives

• Utility incentives are typically a price per watt. EWEB/EPUD $1.70/watt AC. Expiration unknown; based on availability of funds.
• Oregon State tax Credit is a price per watt currently $2.10/watt DC.
• Federal tax credit is 30% of the cost of system. Expires 2016

Solar Water Heating Incentives

• Utility incentive is a flat $500
• Oregon State tax credit is $.60 per kwh saved per year.
• Federal tax credit is 30% of installed cost. Expires 2016
